Categories of papers
Short Communications: These are short descriptions of
important current research findings that are usually
fast-tracked for immediate publication because they are
considered urgent. SRJ considers Short Communications as
appropriate for recording the results of complete small
investigations or giving details of new models or
hypotheses, innovative methods, techniques or apparatus. The
style of main sections need not conform to that of
full-length papers. Short communications are 2 to 4 printed
pages.
Regular articles: These should explain original and
carefully confirmed findings, and experimental procedures
should be given in full detail for others to verify the
work. The length of a full paper should be the minimum
required to describe and interpret the work clearly. Regular
articles are usually between five and twenty pages and are
complete descriptions of current original research findings.
Review articles: Submissions of reviews and perspectives
covering topics of current interest are welcome and
encouraged. Reviews should be concise and no longer than 4-6
printed pages (about 12 to 18 manuscript pages). Reviews
manuscripts are also peer-reviewed. Review articles do not
cover original research but rather accumulate the results of
many different articles on a particular topic into a
coherent narrative about the state of the art in that field.
Review articles should provide information about the topic
and also provide journal references to the original
research. Reviews may be entirely narrative, or may provide
quantitative summary estimates.
